Tuesday night’s show at Nectar was a beautiful aberration in Seattle’s rare relationship with international dancehall. Thanks to the venue’s addition of booker Colin (aka the-best-thing-that-ever-happened-to-the-Nectar) Johnson, one of the Caribbean’s biggest ragga stars came to the Northwest to brighten up a dismal day in recent Seattle weather. The show was sold out, and the club had to turn away what Johnson guessed was more than 150 people — a considerable audience that gives evidence to Seattle’s ever growing interest in reggae.
